HBO’s successful show ‘Chernobyl’ has gained tremendous popularity. Based on the 1986 disaster of nuclear reactor No.4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, the show has touched viewers with the deaths and sacrifices involved. This has sparked the interest of many to come and see the damaged, abandoned sites, including Instagram models.

Instagram Models Sexy Photos in a Place of Tragedy

For the sake of gaining some extra fame, Instagram models have traveled to Pripyat, Ukraine to take photos of themselves. Unfortunately these photos are not exactly touching or in any form respectful, rather we see asses out in g-strings as a ploy to be “sexy” in a place of tragedy.

One even put themselves in nuclear attire, wearing a hazmat suit so as to look honorable. While trying to put on the outfit of the brave, it’s instead insulting and a cheap way to gain attention.

Social Media Fights Back

Luckily, these photos are not being taken lightly. For each photo, backlash is occurring, with people arguing that the photos are “insensitive” and “disrespectful.” One person wrote, “People died there in a very horrific way–have some respect.” Another added, “This photo is disrespectful to the people who lost their lives. How insensitive can you be?”

Even the creator of the TV series has come into the conversation, tweeting,

“It’s wonderful that #ChernobylHBO has inspired a wave of tourism to the Zone of Exclusion. But yes, I’ve seen the photos going around. If you visit, please remember that a terrible tragedy occurred there. Comport yourselves with respect for all who suffered and sacrificed.”

Hopefully this message, along with the many other backlashing comments, will prevent further disrespect. The internet does not need any more shameful half-naked pics in a place of suffering.
