Fake grass-stained clothes made their debut in an obtuse fashion statement brought to you by Gucci. The world-renowned luxury brand now offers stained jeans and overalls for $769 and $1,400, respectively.
The denim is made from organic cotton, and specially treated for a stained, worn effect. Gucci stated the clothes are eco-friendly, being produced through processes that “don’t involve harmful chemicals, pesticides, or artificial fertilizers.” A vintage Gucci logo adorns the back pocket and the jeans themselves are made from recycled materials.
The description for the jeans on Gucci reads: “Channelling the Fall Winter 2020 collection’s grunge vibe, this wide-leg denim pant is crafted from organic cotton specifically treated for a stained-like, distressed effect.
Gucci explores new takes on the cult fabric, reinterpreting it with different designs and washing techniques that blur the line between vintage and contemporary.”
Social media was fast to provide input.
Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time that a brand has sold soiled versions of their own product. Read about Converse’s shoe move earlier this year.
