Britain’s Most Notorious Prisoner is Selling £1.5 Million Worth of NFT Artwork

He wants Elon Musk to buy it.

UK’s Charles Bronson, one of the most popular prisoners in British history, is currently trying to sell artwork he’s made over 30 years behind bars as Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs).

Almost a celebrity himself, Charlie Bronson is hopping on the popular trend of Non Fungible Tokens. Also known as NFT’s, these tokens are digitally produced one-off certificates of complete ownership to whoever buys the product. They cannot be digitally replicated, and therefore, their value rises through the roof.

Bronson decided to sell a total of six art pieces that he’s made, even though he is behind bars, as NFT’s and plans to burn the originals after the purchase to authenticate the NFT’s value. Whoever buys the pieces will be the sole owner of them in existence.

However, each piece goes for about £250,000. All six pieces are a total of £1.5 million… but with the proceeds, Bronson plans to invest in BitCoin to increase his wealth even further. Honestly, with that much time behind bars to figure out the perfect plan to make money, this isn’t even too wild of an idea.

As Bronson is still currently in prison, this mission is being handled by his son, George Barmby. Barmby is working on publicizing and making the deals for Bronson. This is what he had to say about it:

There’s never ever been a prisoner in the UK, or in America, or anywhere that has sold any of their artwork digitized on a cryptocurrency platform. Charlie loves all of that cryptocurrency thing, and when he comes out he’s going to invest loads into Bitcoin and all of that.

You have to respect the support for the arts! Someone has allegedly already bought one of his pieces for £545,000, so achieving his dream of being a famous artist is quite possible.

This is what else Barmby had to say about his father’s dreams as an artist ad why he decided to go on the NFT trend:

The thing is, he’s never seen money for 47 years, so basically he understands more about cryptocurrency than he does about real money. He just reads the newspapers and loads of other stuff, and he’s seen this Bitcoin thing go absolutely mental and he wants a piece of it. Obviously, his artwork is his life and what he wants to do, so his dream is to have one of his digital artworks owned by Elon Musk. Ultimately, he’d love the richest man in the world to have a piece of his art.

Who knows, maybe Elon Musk might actually buy one as well. He does seem to be into this sort of stuff anyways. (And he definitely has some nice spare change lying around in one of his Teslas somewhere…)

The rest of his work goes live on Tuesday, 4/20/2021. Worth a gander, I’d say.
