Spooky Season on Netflix: New Show Features Most Haunted U.S. Cities

Netflix debuts a new series about the most haunted places in the United States

Director Joe Berlinger plans to produce new Netflix series about most haunted places in the U.S.

Director Joe Berlinger made a name for himself through several successful films about serial killer Ted Bundy.

Netflix documentaries have gained popularity since the streaming platform began releasing originals like Knock Down the House, a political true story, or Fyre, the tale of a music festival gone astray. Now, Netflix hopes to attract even more viewers by blending the factual and the fearful through a new series on the most haunted places in the United States.

Created by Ron Howard and Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment, the series will most likely include cities such as New Orleans, LA and Salem, Massachusetts. Additionally, the new series will be directed by Joe Berlinger, who is the brain behind the widely successful Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile, a re-telling of the Ted Bundy killings starring Zac Efron.

Often ranked as the spookiest U.S. city, New Orleans (pictured above) features buildings and streets with hoards of ghostly tales.

With houses such as the American Horror Story: Coven manor or the Bell Witch Farm in Adams, Tennessee, the series will have plenty of creepy cities from which to draw inspiration. Across the United States, tales of ghosts range from the benevolent to the vengeful, spooky to silly. The new series will certainly leave viewers in suspense.

The series has yet to set a release date or title. However, the series is described as “a gritty and meticulous study of some of America’s most notorious haunted locations.” Fans waiting in anticipation may want to check out similar Netflix originals in the meantime.
