Man Wins Lottery, Picks Up Check In Mask To Remain Anonymous

No better way.

We’d all love to win the lottery. What’s more, we’d probably all like to win the lottery while remaining anonymous, but alas, that’s never quite possible. One way or another, winners’ faces end up on TV, and their names are announced on the radio. Suddenly, everyone wants to act like a best friend and get his/her “fair share” of the winnings. This Jamaican dude, however, might be onto something. The incognito man won the lottery, was present to pick up his check, yet still remains unidentified. How is this possible?

Known publicly only as A Campbell, the lucky lotto winner was not keen on picking up his oversized check and having the world learn his identity. His view makes sense…everyone on the island would surely be banging on A Campbell’s door if they knew the real winner behind the $1.1 million (USD) jackpot.

What did A Campbell do to remain undisclosed while receiving his check? What any normal person would do – wear a Ghostface mask from Scream, of course! While his costume may seem rather silly, A Campbell didn’t appear quite so elated about winning. He had the following to say:

“I looked at my ticket and ran into my bathroom and said, ‘I won! I won!’

From the day I found out that I won, I’ve been sick.

My head hurt me for three days because I was thinking so much, [wondering] if what I’ve been longing for really came true. I had a belly ache for two weeks, sometimes I feel so much pain I forgot that I had won.

I want to get a house, I want to get a nice house; I haven’t found it yet, but I’ll be looking for one soon.”

Sick with the reality of winning? We can’t quite relate, but hey, at least A Campbell will be able to buy that house to which he’s been looking forward. Maybe he can buy a better mask and costume too while he’s at it.

This aunt and nephew duo could have learned something from A Campbell. After buying a lottery ticket together and miraculously winning, the aunt is now threatening to take the nephew to court to take the whole pot.
