The rumors are true! The Scorsese-DiCaprio duo is back at it again.

It has been officially confirmed by Variety, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio will work together again! The duo are developing the film adaptation of Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI. This film will be based on the novel of the same name by David Grann, who also wrote The Lost City of Z, that was adapted to film two years ago.

The novel follows the story of the investigation conducted by John Edgar Hoover, who would go on to become the first director of the FBI. (Fun fact, Leonardo DiCaprio played J. Edgar Hoover in the 2011 film by Clint Eastwood.) The investigation in the narrative scrutinizes the murder of Native Americans in Oklahoma after oil was discovered on their land in 1920. The screenwriter connected to this project is Eric Roth, who wrote the scripts for Forrest Gump and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, among others.

“When I read David Grann’s book, I immediately started seeing it — the people, the settings, the action — and I knew that I had to make it into a movie,” said Scorsese. “I’m so excited to be working with Eric Roth and reuniting with Leo DiCaprio to bring this truly unsettling American story to the screen.”

This project is being developed in conjunction with Imperative Entertainment. Leo will of course play the lead. This will be the sixth time the duo have worked together (Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island, The Wolf of Wall Street). Scorsese has also mentioned offering a role to Robert De Niro, who is currently working with him on The Irishman. Production must wrap on The Irishman before they can start on the new film. Production for this exciting new project is expected to begin next spring, but nothing has been confirmed yet. So we will just have to cross our fingers and wait!

If you like Leo as much as I do, check out this time he pranked Jonah Hill.
