Is it Okay for Your Boyfriend to Gift You Sydney Sweeney’s Lingerie for Valentine’s Day?

Many speculate that because that her new lingerie line is prioritizing lustful men over women, SYRN products might be the last thing to receive as a Valentine’s gift.

Ladies, let me ask you one thing: Considering the holiday where you make out all day with your boyfriend and he hands you exorbitant gifts afterward is nearby, if he were to get you a gift from Sydney Sweeney’s new lingerie line, would you accept it with a smile on your face or with a subtle look of disappointment?

The question is difficult to answer: Sydney Sweeney, using her sex appeal that many people on the internet colloquially deem as “the male gaze,” created her first lingerie line named SYRN (pronounced as siren), and when the announcement spread across a digital landscape that doesn’t seem to forget things so easily, it brewed up a storm of appraisal and criticism, primarily due to reasons including claims of over-sexualization of her body for men, bras not holding her own size, and the fact that she unlawfully trespassed on the Hollywood sign to decorate the monument in bras to promote her brand

Who is Sydney Sweeney for those who don’t know?

You know Cassie Howard from Euphoria, who created the 4 a.m. morning routine to look as beautiful as possible for a sexually insecure guy who was with her best friend (whom he abused, by the way), but destroys her own sense of self-respect in the process? Yeah, you probably heard of her from that.

Sweeney has made a name for herself not just in Euphoria but in other roles as well. She has portrayed well-known characters, such as the privileged Olivia Mossbacher in HBO’s The White Lotus; Christy Martin in the biopic (and box office failure) Christy; Beatrice Messina in Anyone But You with Glen Powell; and the maid Millie Calloway in the box office success The Housemaid alongside Amanda Seyfried.

SYRN isn’t Sweeney’s first break into the beauty and fashion industry. Because of her rising popularity as a Hollywood star, she has been booked and busy with many renowned beauty and fashion brands, including Miu Miu, Guess, Kérastase, Armani Beauty, LANEIGE, etc.

And now, she holds the title of CEO of her own fashion brand, which is surprisingly backed by Ben Schwerin, an investor associated with multi-billionaire Jeff Bezos. Sweeney’s lingerie line includes a variety of different accessories, such as thongs, plunge bras, bralettes, bikinis, etc.

“I wanted to create a world and a feeling,” says Sweeney in an ELLE interview. “I wanted to build a lingerie brand that feels like it understands women instead of talking to them.”

Sydney Sweeney’s “misplaced” intentions and over-sexualization

Critics of Sweeney took to the internet to express their thoughts on her new lingerie line. They implied that Sweeney did not release her lingerie line solely for the purpose of respecting women and glorifying their bodies, but rather to cater to men who sexually lust for her body or men who do not listen to their girlfriends about their needs.

“Sydney Sweeney’s lingerie line was never meant for women to purchase [it]; it was meant for the men to purchase it for the women that they do not listen to,” says @buckybarnicals on TikTok.

It doesn’t just stop there: Many women hold differing views of the actress due to the many examples where Sweeney was over-sexualized, including when she collaborated with Dr. Squatch, a skincare company targeted specifically for men, to make the “Sydney Sweeney Bathwater Soap,” which was said to include a touch of Sweeney’s used bathwater; the infamous “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans” AE commercials that showed some of her cleavage; and the Euphoria season 3 trailer that showcases her desperate-for-love character doing OnlyFans.

The question remains: should my boyfriend get me SYRN lingerie for Valentine’s Day?

The choice is entirely up to you, as you are the dominant decision-maker in your life. But here are some scenarios: If you were to go up to a woman and ask her the same question, she would probably tell you, “Heck no, Sydney Sweeney doesn’t relate to women at all,” or “It looks cute, so yeah, you should buy it,” but if your boyfriend, who knows a little too much about Sydney Sweeney, buys you SYRN lingerie even though you didn’t ask for it, run.
