If you’ve been on TikTok over the last couple of weeks, you’ve probably seen a screenshot similar to the one above. If you’re into dating simulators, you’ll love the hottest new video game, “Date Everything!”

Dating simulators have always been a popular genre of video games. These are usually episodic and dialogue-driven games that allow the player to socialize with someone in the video game with romantic elements.

There’s a new viral addition to the dating simulator genre, with the release of “Date Everything!” which was released on June 17, 2025 on major platforms. The game is becoming so popular, some people are considering it for Game of the Year.

What Is “Date Everything?”

The title of the game is exactly what the game is about. “Date Everything!” is a dating simulator game that allows you to date household objects. Yes, you heard me, objects in your home.

To explain the plot of the game for a second, a suspicious package gets delivered to your home. When you open the package, you get a pair of heart-shaped sunglasses called “dateviators.” Dateviators allow you to see the household objects in your house come to life.

There are up to 100 household objects that you can talk to in your home, which means there are also 100 characters you can socialize with. You don’t always have to date them, you can simply remain friends, or even become enemies.

Each character has a unique voice actor and personality attached to them, which makes the game more immersive and fun to experience. You as the player are able to decide how you interact with these characters.

Why is it going viral?

The game has started gaining some virality and popularity through social media sites, where people are being exposed to the game and looking to play it for themselves.

Many online streamers have shown their own experience playing the game, going after specific characters they like, judging characters they hate, and becoming best friends with the television. Each character also has their own unique design, allowing for great variety.

Most of its popularity and virality could also be due to the comedic references that make its way into the game’s dialogue. The game references things such as real-life musicians, streaming platforms, AI, remote work, and pop culture.

The dating simulator itself is also an interesting concept. We’ve never thought much about the objects in our home, but this game makes us hyper aware that maybe a toilet has some feelings too.

Friends, enemies, and romances

In “Date Everything!” you can talk to household objects (or dateables) more than once and go different routes with them. You can decide to have a romantic relationship, platonic relationship, or become bitter enemies based on dialogue choices.

Some fans of the game are having tons of fun choosing which characters they want to romance. It can be love at first sight, or it can take a couple tries. Regardless, some characters will flirt with you and want to pursue romance. And yes, you can date more than one object at a time.

If you’re not looking to romance a specific character, that’s totally fine. Maybe you just like talking to a certain character as a friend, which is also just as meaningful as a romantic relationship.

You don’t always have to be friends or romantic. You might dislike a certain character so much, you decide to get on as enemies. If you want to be a proud hater of a character, there’s no shame in doing so and becoming enemies.

Notable characters

Some characters are universally loved by the community of gamers who have been playing the game. These are just a few of the most popular characters:

Dorian from "Date Everything!"

Dorian represents all the doors in the house and is one of the first characters you’re introduced to in the beginning of the game. Many users of the game like his characters and usually talk to “Trap Dorian,” a shirtless version of his character.

Volt & Eddie represent the breaker box in the house, which is hidden in a closet. They’re seen as the “bad boy” archetypes and you can romance both of them, although you should never talk about one in front of the other…

Betty from "Date Everything!"

Betty represents the bed in your room, which you have to use every in-game day. Betty’s interactions are always interesting, and there’s never a dull moment in having conversation with her. It’s hard not to like her, or even romance her.

Skylar Specs is the main face of the game. When you first start talking to objects, Skylar is there to teach you how to play the game, and how to interact. There’s even a possibility to date Skylar at some point in the game.

My Experience

I’ve also been just as hooked on playing “Date Everything!” along with everyone else. Although I haven’t finished the game completely, but I’m currently in a romantic relationship with two objects: Wallace the Wall, and Johnny Splash, the shower and my personal favorite character.

Although I’m not the biggest fan of dating simulators, I’ve been having so much fun with “Date Everything!” I still haven’t met every character, but I’m already knowing which characters I like and which I don’t.

For people who may be searching for a “cozy game”, “Date Everything!” is the perfect game to play. There are an endless amount of routes you can go with each character, leaving room for drama, love, and everything in between!
