HBO just released a trailer for its upcoming hit show “The Last of Us“, an adaptation of a post-apocalyptic zombie video game.
The show follows Joel, a rugged survivor of the zombie apocalypse, and Ellie, a young woman who is mysteriously immune to the virus that destroyed the world. Joel is responsible for getting Ellie to a lab where scientists can make a potential antidote for the virus.
On the show, Joel and Ellie are played by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, but in the game, Joel is voiced by Troy Baker. Keeping that in mind, the showrunners found a way to honor him by giving him a cameo in the show.
Likewise, Ashley Johnson voiced Ellie in the game, who plays Ellie’s mother, Anna, in the show. Other voice actors of the game will be appearing on the show, including Jeffrey Pierce and Merle Dandridge.
The show’s official synopsis reads, “Joel and Ellie, a pair connected through the harshness of the world they live in, are forced to endure brutal circumstances and ruthless killers on a trek across a post-outbreak America.”
