If you thought you could avoid the massive Apple AirPod trend while in quarantine: think again. There’s nothing more satisfying than feeling like you have finally found the knockoff AirPod’s. The substitute that will successfully pair with your phone, match the high-quality sound, and the sleek style of those insanely popular tiny earbuds. This was all running through the mind of Dubai Amazon user, Aleezay’s when she bought hers.
Aleezay received the shock of her life when she received her purchase: off-brand AirPods the size of her head. It is a wonder how the massive size of these AirPods went unnoted in the images, comment section, or dimension description before Aleezay bought them for £50, or $62 USD. Currently, Apple AirPods are on sale for $139 USD on Amazon.
Like so many of us in modern-day society, Aleezay posted the astounding item on her Twitter account. “So today I received my Airpods from Amazon. God these are huge,” she wrote, with an attached picture to verify the truth. This brings the saying “more bang for your buck” to a whole new level. On a side note, this could be a fantastic segway into Apple’s marketing of AirPod themed speakers!
The tweet received more than 72,000 retweets, and most users equated the fake AirPods to a hairdryer rather than the popular headphones. This makes a person wonder whether this was a photoshopped gimmick to get more twitter followers. However, when asked about her purchase, later on, she commented:
“I got the AirPods from Amazon last month. I knew they were fake because Amazon sells weird stuff, and it wasn’t expensive. I was shocked not going to lie, but we move on.”
Amazon never commented on her tweet, but the tweet has since been deleted for “potentially sensitive content.” Here’s hoping she returned the fake AirPods and treated herself to the real things!
