Former President Donald Trump called on his followers to boycott large corporate companies including Coke.
In the past, Trump has called on people to boycott companies that go against his views. When things have not gone his way, certain movements or brands have been under fire from the former president.
Recently, Trump asked fans to stop drinking Coke because the company spoke out against Georgia’s laws restricting voting access. Trump said Coke promoted ‘woke cancel culture’, with which he disagrees.
What makes Trump’s statement more absurd is that he has been spotted on different occasions drinking Coke and serving it to patrons at his hotels and other properties. But let’s face it, Trump’s hypocrisy doesn’t come as a surprise.
In the tweet, an image shows Trump at his Mar-a-Lago Resort with what appears to be a Coke bottle sat on his desk that has poorly been hidden from view.
CNN discovered the twice impeached POTUS was not practising what he preached when they found his properties, including the Trump International Hotel in Washington, were still serving Coke despite Trump delivering his boycott statement earlier this month.
Part of Trump’s statement issued on April 3 reads: ‘For years the Radical Left Democrats have played dirty by boycotting products when anything from that company is done or slated in any way that offends them. Now they are going big time with WOKE CANCEL CULTURE and our sacred elections. It is finally time for Republicans ad Conservatives to fight back.’
Trump was then discovered drinking coke again a little over a week ago when the Instagram account @firstfamilytrumps_ shared a photo of the former POTUS seeming to enjoy a bottle of Diet Coke. The image was allegedly taken on April 7, four days after Trump gave his boycott statement.
Some people were bewildered by his choice of beverage, commenting on the photo, ‘What!!! I see a COKE bottle. I thought we were banning Coke, I am.’
While others pointed out his pretence, ‘Don the Con man. Drinking Coke but telling you that you shouldn’t drink Coke. Hahaha!!!!!’
Trump was a big Coke drinker in the past. He even had a Diet Coke button installed in the Oval Office for convenience during his presidency as he guzzled so much of it. The New York Times reported the former president drank up to 12 glasses of it a day.
However, since Trump has left office and gone back to his hotels, President Biden has removed the red button.
