Netflix is releasing another true crime documentary called Why did you kill me? coming out on April 13th and it looks intense. The story explains the murder of 24-year-old Crystal Theobald and how her mother never gave up until justice was served to her killer. Her mother, Belinda, utilized social media by creating fake Myspace accounts to catch the murderer.

Netflix’s synopsis of the documentary reads:

The line between justice and revenge blurs when a devastated family uses social media to track down the people who killed 24-year-old Crystal Theobald.

The car Crystal was in was mistaken for one that held rival gang members to William Sotelo and she was fatally shot in 2006.

At Crystal’s funeral, KKABC shares that Belinda promised her:

Baby girl, I promise you if it takes my last breath, I will get them. I promise you, you will have justice.

For a decade, Belinda passionately searched for Crystal’s killer, even creating fake Myspace accounts to get details on suspects. Due to her extraordinary work, authorities were able to locate Sotelo and bring him into custody. A mother’s love, determination, and hard work did bring her daughter justice.

The documentary is directed and produced by Fredrick Munk as well as other producers: Lucy Walker and Julian Cautherley.

Be sure to tune in to Netflix on April 14th to watch this emotional documentary that truly displays persistence. If you found this article interesting, check out this one on a successful stowaway who smuggles herself on 30 flights without a ticket and tell all.
