Netflix is known for having a wide variety of different shows and movies, but this specific new series is not for the faint of heart, especially before bedtime. Crime Scene: The Vanishing At The Cecil Hotel has four haunting episodes that will make you question everything. After watching the series, many viewers have said they’re “too scared too sleep” and after you watch the trailer, you’ll probably understand why.
Oh my goodness, this looks frightening! In the trailer someone literally says “Is there a room that maybe somebody hasn’t died in?” The clip above also reveals that people call it ‘Hotel Death.’
The series is directed by Joe Berlinger, who is known for directing The Ted Bundy Tapes. While the Cecil Hotel is notorious for housing a multitude of deaths (murders/suicides) during the 1930-1960s, the Netflix piece focuses on the horrifying disappearance of Elisa Lim.
The 21-year-old Canadian student made headlines when footage of her in the hotel’s elevator went viral. It is the last time she was seen and she appears to act in distress, like there is someone she is avoiding and terrified of. Her body was found a month later in a water tank on the hotel’s roof.
Richard Ramirez, the serial killer who happens to be the subject of Netflix’s documentary Night Stalker, stayed in the Cecil Hotel for ‘several weeks’ in the 1980s. If you dare to watch this series, I suggest you do it very early in the day, with the lights on, and not alone.
