TikToker’s Should Refrain From Participating in the ‘Silhouette Challenge’

New TikTok challenge has become a danger to people’s privacy.

Every week there seems to be a new challenge appearing across the internet. Some are for great causes, like the ice bucket challenge, while others are just for fun and laughs (the flip the switch challenge).

You could dive into various trends from over the years, but one of the newer challenges popping up across the internet is called, “the silhouette challenge”.

As you can see in the tweet above, the challenge involves starting with a clear video of oneself. But in the flip of a switch, a red-filter is inputted, which creates a silhouette of said person either in very little, or no clothing at all.

Like all challenges, the silhouette challenge seemed harmless and all in good fun. At the same time, it seemed to be simply promoting body positivity and self-confidence: something I think everyone should get on board with. But with all that being said, the challenge’s lifespan seems to be very short-lived.

Unfortunately for everyone, some creeps on the internet decided it would be cool to post tutorial videos on YouTube on how to remove the red-filter from the silhouette challenge.

In all honesty, I really have no words. Like, can people just not be as creepy as an be? Just because a few guys on the internet decided to be disturbing pigs, a whole lot of fun has been stolen away.

Now, I don’t have TikTok, nor have I participated in any circulated challenges. But if people have fun with them, the more power to them. A lot of them are really funny too! So what type of person would I be to attempt and ruin that fun? Probably the type slime-ball that has been willing to go through all this trouble just to make everyone feel uncomfortable.

So as enjoying as the silhouette challenge was for some, it is time to hit the breaks. Privacy is being invaded without consent, and that isn’t cool in the slightest.

Hopefully a new challenge can be posted soon where people don’t have the opportunity to be the worst. But in the meantime, these sea shanty videos are a pretty good watch.
