News began to circulate recently about the Californian man who has been tucked away between the Cinnabon and a shoeshine stand at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport for three months! If that wasn’t a loaded sentence — it makes one wonder how he was able to live in an airport for three months undetected. Aditya Singh, the alleged airport squatter, told authorities he stayed perched in the airport because he was too scared to fly due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 36-year-old man was arrested Saturday and currently faces felony charges for “criminal trespass in a restricted area” and “misdemeanor theft charges.”

Because of his fear of the raging COVID-19 pandemic, Singh chose to stay quarantined in the airport, living off of the food provided by strangers.

His accommodations were cut short when a staff member of United Airlines requested identification from Singh, having found him unfamiliar. Singh then presented a badge that had belonged to an airport operations manager, who had reported the badge missing in October. Naturally, suspicions arose.

A hearing took place on Sunday, where Cook County Judge, Susana Ortiz, ruled Singh “a danger to the community.” She has since marked set his bail at $1,000 USD. He is also banned henceforth from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

Another hearing is scheduled for January 27th, to determine whether Singh will be spending hard time locked behind bars for his secret airport lodging.
