A Texan woman has finally answered the question we’ve all been asking – what happens to a McDonald’s hamburger when you leave it, uneaten, in the trunk of your car for 24 years?
The answer to this mystery, which you can watch for yourself below, is: disturbingly little. McDonalds might not win any awards in the flavour department, but if you need something sturdy enough to survive a nuclear winter then apparently you can’t do much better.
The hamburger has seen its fair share of adventure during its unusually long life. Despite spending most of its days in a shoebox in the closet, its proud owner occasionally shows it to morbidly curious guests. It was even the star attraction of a student science project at one point – although at this point the explanation seems more supernatural than scientific.
It’s unclear whether the owner plans on getting rid of the experiment anytime soon, but it seems unlikely after 24 years of careful preservation. She told Rumble: “24 years later, it still looks almost like it did the day I bought it. No mould. No decay. Definitely stale.”
