Michelle Obama Opens Up About Her Mental Health Issues

No shame in seeking help!

In one of her recent podcasts on The Michelle Obama Podcast, the former first lady opened up about her current mental health experiences, while welcoming journalist Michelle Norris on her show.

Michelle Obama mentioned that some of the reasons which contributed to her ongoing mental health issues were the Pandemic, the fight against racial injustices, and the hypocrisy of the Trump administration.

On the podcast that was released on August 5th, Michelle Obama opened up and said:

These are not, they are not fulfilling times, spiritually. I know that I am dealing with some form of low-grade depression. Not just because of the quarantine, but because of the racial strife, and just seeing this administration, watching the hypocrisy of it, day in and day out, is dispiriting.

Aside from all the current issues affecting her mental health, Michelle Obama mentioned that her sleep schedule. Unfortunately, during such uncertain times, Michelle Obama is not the only person who is struggling with mental health issues. A report from the Census Bureau shows that Michelle Obama is one of the many people who is struggling with clinical anxiety or depression during the COVID-19 pandemic.

One of the ways that Michelle Obama mentioned she is able to cope with her mental struggles is by having a schedule of her day. This has helped her days to stay in better shape mentally and emotionally. She said typically their family works during the day, and every evening they gather to spend some quality family time together.

There is no shame in struggling with mental health issues. There is also no shame in seeking help for your struggles.
