Being a Californian my whole life, I know all about recycling and trying to keep our planet as clean as possible. But with that said, recycling and composting is not enough anymore. There are still so many ways to cut down on the amount of waste that we all create in just one day. Some are obvious, some not so much so. Since we only have the one planet to live on and it is not in good shape, we should all being doing everything we can to help nurse it back to health as best we can.

According to Valeza Bakolli (buzzfeed.com), there are several different items we can buy in order to help limit our waste every day. By changing these habits, it will drastically help our planet from continuing to suffer each day. And good news, many of these items you can buy online and in stores so there’s really no excuse not to start reducing waste right away! Some of the items Bakolli posted are: “reusable straws, toothpaste tube squeezers, beeswax food wraps, reusable bamboo kitchen towels, makeup remover cloths, ionic shower head, reusable smart notebook, reusable stainless steel water bottles, and mesh bags for fruits and vegetables when you come home from the grocery store” (buzzfeed.com 2-3). These are just to name a few but they are pretty easy to find online and are not super expensive.

Every Little Bit Helps

Something that was not mentioned in the article was look for companies that are making their products in reusable packaging or making products out of recycled materials, like Rothy’s shoes. They are based out of San Francisco and make all of their shoes out of recycled water bottles and other recycled materials and they are machine washable! No matter where you live or how you live, we can all do our part to help our planet. Many of these products are easy to find and aren’t that hard to integrate into our daily lives. So give some of these a try!
