A Spider-Man fan on Tik-Tok has gone viral for making working web-shooters: they look awesome.

We’ve been really blessed when it comes to Spider-Man content the past few years. Tom Holland made a dazzling entrance into the MCU in 2016 and has gone on to lead a highly successful trilogy that led to perhaps the most ambitious crossover in cinema history (don’t worry, I see you Multiverse of Madness) by uniting three generations of Spideys in one film!

Equally impressive is the spider-verse being built by Sony, with their Into the Spider-Verse animated film becoming the highest-rated Spider-Man film ever, introducing us to characters such as Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen on the big screen.

Essentially, what I’m saying, is that Spider-Man fans have a lot of amazing content to indulge in, and so many creative interpretations of the hero to draw inspiration from. Spidey has always been a huge hit when it comes to cosplay, and you’ll be hard-pressed to go to a con and not see someone dressed in the iconic red spandex suit.

Spider-Man fans are taking their cosplay to new levels, however, as one fan has actually built functioning web-shooters that, well, shoot webs!

Aptly named Spider-Slinger, the fan has gone viral on TikTok showing off his self-built web-shooters, that function similarly to those we’ve seen on-screen – though his are discharged by a lever rather than a button.

Whilst the webs may not be able to facilitate swinging from building to building, they do look pretty damn impressive as part of a full cosplay. They definitely look more akin to actual spider webs, which does kind of freak me out, as I hate the texture of them and have nightmares of walking face-first into them – but I digress.

You can see how the webs shoot at quite a speed before expanding in the air, which is actually really impressive and to be honest, really freaking cool.

Spider-Slinger isn’t the first Spider-Man fan to attempt to build functioning web-shooters, take a look at Joel Creates’ video below where he utilizes hot glue to make web-shooters that are actually sticky!

Whilst fans haven’t quite mastered the web-shooter tech, they’re getting closer with every step and it’s inspiring to see so much collaboration being done in an attempt to find new and innovative ways to bring a comic book fantasy, into a real-life tool.

Just remember that with great power, comes great responsibility, guys.
