As of 2020, there have been more than 300 licensed versions of the original Monopoly game. These versions span across sports, movies, televisions and video games. One of the most recent versions to be released by Hasbro is the Bob Ross-themed Monopoly. The game is promised by Hasbro to be “the most peaceful edition of Monopoly you’ve ever seen.”

The game promises to bring Bob Ross’ famed television show, The Joy of Painting, to life through the popular board game. Instead of bankrupting everyone across the board and possibly causing war amongst your friends and family, the game is centered around trading, buying, and selling classic artworks from The Joy of Painting

This adds a brand new, and peaceful, twist to the game that usually generates unpleasant memories for everyone!

The game pieces are now a squirrel, pine tree, an easel, a paint palette, an owl and a picket fence. Different from the original is also “Happy Little Accident” and “The Joy of Painting” cards instead of Chance Cards and Community Chest cards!

This game is a refreshing way to celebrate Monopoly’s 85th birthday. The original game was first marketed in 1935 and mass-produced shortly afterwards. Since then, Monopoly has become a worldwide sensation. It has been sold in 114 countries and translated into 47 different languages!

Here’s hoping that Bob Ross’ peaceful legacy transcends all languages, and makes a splash with all veteran players and newcomers. MONOPOLY Bob Ross® Edition Game is currently available to pre-order through Hasbro Pulse for the price of $39.99.
