Trump’s In Hot Waters After Using “The Dark Knight Rises” Score

President Trump was blasted by Twitter users for using unauthorized music again.

Oh Mr. President… stealing more music, are we?

President Trump was, once again, playing on his favorite cyber playground, Twitter on April 9th tweeting about his campaign video for re-election in 2020. With the BIG words “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” as his caption, he attached his campaign video along with it.

Business Insider

The video was as “Trump” as it got with suspenseful statements like, “First, they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they call you racist. Donald J. Trump. Your vote. Proved them all wrong” according to Buzzfeed and Variety before the video was taken down. Why, you may ask? Because it was flagged as copyrighting Warner Bros’ score of The Dark Knight Rises. Trump didn’t receive proper authorization from the rightful owners and just inserted the music as his own.

The music playing in his campaign video immediately caught the attention of Twitter users and the blasting began. People were tweeting at Warner Bros and Hans Zimmer, who created the soundtrack to make sure they were aware of Trump using their music. They soon succeeded and Warner Bros filed a complaint about copyright infringements and for the video to be taken down immediately. Warner Bros even released a statement saying that the music used was unauthorized and that they were working on removing it. They wanted everyone to know that they had no involvement in Trump’s video.

By the evening of April 9th, Twitter responded to the case and dozens of the Twitter users and took down the video making it “no longer available”. This isn’t the first time Trump used unauthorized music for his campaigns. Celebrities like Rihanna and Adele had to send cease and desist letters and speak out against him for using their music in his rallies and events without their permissions. President Trump shouldn’t use music that’s not his or ask the rightful artists first. Although they would not give it to him willingly, it’s the thought that counts, right?
