Parkour and free running has exploded in popularity in recent years. If the giddy heights of your successes in the discipline extend to jumping over the fence at the local park, look away now. The British group Storror are simply incredible.
The group was formed in 2010 when two brothers (Max and Benj Cave) started a YouTube channel. This consisted of them messing around with some basic tricks in their hometown after they were inspired by watching the 2005 documentary Jump Britain. However, it turned out they were really, really good. The name of the group simply comes from the duo’s middle name. Friends quickly joined in and the group now has seven members.

Today, their YouTube channel has over five and a half million subscribers and their videos have been watched nearly 600 million times. Not content with just navigating the rooftops of British cities, their mind boggling videos are filmed all over the world. From parkour at the Mayan pyramids in Mexico to leaping about with monkeys in the cities of India, the guys have certainly been parkouring (new word?) on a global scale. However, the number of videos which feature some sort of run in with confused law enforcement suggest not everything they do is strictly legal.
Their high quality content has also got them noticed on an even bigger scale. In recent years they have become more involved with the film industry. They took charge of the parkour sequences in the 2019 film 6 Underground, directed by Michael Bay. Their website promises many more ‘exciting projects’ coming up soon.
Whilst my incredibly dull self doesn’t really get parkour (it makes me feel just a little sick), the groups’ content is undeniably brilliant. It is beautifully shot and they seem to really love their craft. The channel also contains videos where they teach refugee children and others in unfortunate circumstances some of their sweet skills.
Storer’s tenth anniversary is on the tenth of October this year and they’ve already announced plans to try and get to ten million subscribers by that date. Apologies for all the tens.
