After all of the efforts to move people away from smoking and towards vaping, it appears that vaping may also cause cancer.

Everyone knows that smoking has been proven to have detrimental effects on your health. But, all this time, we have believed that switching to vaping was a brilliant alternative. The large influx of people vaping was due to the assurance that it didn’t have any lasting damage to your health.

No one could knock you for trying to get away from a much worse habit by switching to one which appeared harmless. However, recent studies from New York University have questioned this method of thinking.

University studies on the risks of vaping

The study shows the effects of vape smoke on mice and human lungs and bladders. The vape smoke caused the cells to mutate. Here is the conclusion of the study:

“Based on these results, we propose that [e-cigarette vapour] is carcinogenic and that E-cig smokers have a higher risk than nonsmokers to develop lung and bladder cancer and heart disease.”

Although they stated that vape smoke has fewer cancer-causing chemicals, it is still a risk to your health.

Another study from the University of North Carolina found that vaping was just as bad as smoking. The lead researcher, Mehmet Kesimer, said this:

“There is confusion about whether e-cigarettes are ‘safer’ than cigarettes because the potential adverse effects of e-cigarettes are only beginning to be studied.

Our results suggest that e-cigarettes might be just as bad as cigarettes”

It is worrying how everyone thought that vaping was so much safer. It is presumed that nowadays we have more insight into health risks and will spot them sooner, but there is clearly still need for caution.

There are so many unanswered questions relating to our health. But it seems clear that avoiding any form of smoking is the safest option! Take a look at this extreme article, India Man With Cancer Kills Friend Who Showed Him Smoking.
