Jazz vocalist, Elise Roth has released a YouTube video of her reimagined first verse of the rapper Eminem’s famous song, ‘Lose Yourself’ in the style of a horse race commentator from the 1940s.
‘Lose Yourself’ was originally released by Eminem in 2002 as part of his album 8 Mile. The song even won an Oscar for Best Original Song but vocalist Elise Roth has put her own twist on the famous song and performed it online in a YouTube video in which she pretends to be a race commentator.
In the video, Roth can be seen wearing 1940s men’s clothing, which gives the video an authentic quality to it. She even chews on an unlit cigarette in her mouth as she unleashes her version of the song, which she makes funny and catchy with her acting skills.
Roth has uploaded loads of singing videos to her YouTube channel including her own version of Cardi B’s WAP as well as more traditional videos of Roth singing jazz songs such as ‘We’ll meet again.’ But her version of ‘Lose yourself’ is certainly a great example of her musical and comedic ability.
