VIDEO: The Bottle Shop Staff That Trapped Potential Thieves In A Fridge

Find out how these workers prevented a robbery with their quick thinking.

What would you do if a group of thieves came into your workplace? Anybody who has worked in customer service has asked themselves this question before, and probably come to the conclusion that they would let it happen to avoid any conflict. But the truth is, you never really know how you would act until you’re actually in the situation, and these Australian bottle shop workers may well have surprised themselves with their own quick thinking.

When a group of three men walked into the Perth based Thirsty Camel store on Friday night, the staff members knew something was off. One worker even said that “As soon as they came in I knew they were a bunch of weasels’.

With his gut instinct quickly proving itself to be right, the robbers made their way straight for the cool room where the drinks were kept. Once they were in there the staff acted quickly to block the door with a large pallet of beer and prevent them getting back out.

It was at this point that the thieves started banging on the door to be let out due to the uncomfortable temperature in there. They did so until door actually broke off its hinges, before throwing things at the staff and running out of the shop.

It is not the first time that the establishment has had to deal with people trying to steal things. Similar events have happened three times in the last five weeks, and have resulted in up to $1000 of stock being stolen or damaged from the store.

General Manager Niall Burke revealed that between ten and twenty cases of beer were broken during this most recent incident, and that the store will simply have to accept these losses.

It turns out the men aren’t the first to come up with inventive ways to stop thieves in their tracks. One man in America resorted to luring people in with an unattended box on his doorstep as bait. The thieves quickly realised the package wasn’t worth stealing; it was in fact full of dog poop from the man’s German Shepard.

And the best part was, he got it all on video. The clip was later shared on national news stations.
