2021 seems to have gotten off to an interesting start in Australia with footage released of a particular road incident on DashCam Australia, a site dedicated to documenting the trials and tribulations on the roads of Australia. However, this particular screenshot from dash camera footage seems unbelievable and rather remarkable.

The photo shows a car piled with 10 bikes travelling at a speed faster than 79 km/h as shown by the dash cam footage, on a road which permits travel of up to 100km/h in New South Wales. This is obviously not only dangerous for the driver of the car but also the surrounding vehicles.

DashCam Australia recently posted this photo to their Facebook and Twitter pages which have generated great response from social media users, criticising the driver of the overloaded car, whilst also finding humour in the situation. As the footage is from Christmas Eve, many have commented that this was the driver’s attempt to make it home with gifts for the holidays, whilst others commending the strength of the rope keeping the bikes together.

It is impressive that users have found humour in the situation as I imagine it would have been a very different story if the bikes had dismounted. Let’s just hope the driver managed to arrive safely in time for his festive plans!
