Are you sick of your local concrete BMX skate park? Head over to Russia and you can do all your tricks on a sandcastle!
In affiliation with Red Bull, this construction of four hundred tons of sand and water comes from the minds of Kostya Andreev and Irek Rizaev. Sand and water on its own would break apart under the impact of a bike. So, this sand is frozen solid, replicating the concrete which is often skated on.
“I always wanted to build an unusual skatepark in some special location.” Narrates Irek in Red Bull’s video, and special the location is. The castle is situated in the northern part of Lake Ladoga, Russia. In the Winter the temperature can read -30 degrees Celsius. However, it was the perfect location, being next to a beach with access to water.
Would you skate or ride your bike in -30-degree weather?
The scenery is beautiful, offset by the crazy tricks this pair of BMXers. They describe it as a world first. I am not sure if anyone will be attempting something like this again. In a place that cold, or on a sand castle!
