In a now deleted Twitter comment, Conor McGregor likened his rival Khabib Nurmagomedov’s wife to a towel! While McGregor has always been a polarizing figure in the UFC world, this latest tweet really solidifies him something more than just a “bad boy”.
Ugly Twitter feud aside, McGregor is facing some hefty allegations of sexual assault. Several women in Ireland are accusing the mega UFC star of misconduct, but so far no charges have been pressed. This comes on the heels of assault charges brought against him in Miami for slapping a phone out of a fans’ hand. Unsurprisingly, this is not even the first time McGregor has faced charges for unruly behavior!
All the legal and social media troubles surrounding McGregor since he became famous (I’m not even a UFC fan, and I know who he his!) makes us wonder if it has all gone to his head. Is he, like a spoiled child, given too much leeway — has he learned he can act whatever way he chooses, because he knows there will be no real consequences? Even now, he is getting all the attention while others have suffered under his hands and words.
In an era where social media and the internet rule supreme, when will we begin holding people like McGregor accountable? Maybe we will see a form of justice when Khabib meets him in the Octagon.
