Joe Rogan has said he wants to host a presidential debate on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.
Speaking with UFC fighter Tim Kennedy on the podcast, they discussed the upcoming November election and how Rogan could hold a debate between Trump and Biden.
Rogan said he would want to do the podcast without an audience and streamed live to avoid anyone accusing them of falsifying anything. Kennedy added that Rogan would be the “control mechanism” between the two potential future presidents.
Kennedy later posted a tweet, writing: “On my podcast with @joerogan he offered to moderate a debate between @JoeBiden and @realDonaldTrump It would be four hours with no live audience. Just the two candidates, cameras, and their vision of how to move this country forward. Who wants this?”
Trump responded to the tweet, saying “I do!”
Trump’s support comes as no surprise, as Rogan has stated he will be voting for Trump in the upcoming election. Despite supporting Democratic Bernie Saunders earlier in the year, Rogan’s reason for voting for Trump is that he does not like Joe Biden – likening him to a “flashlight with a dying battery.”
Kennedy then added that the debate would be: “a long-form debate with a neutral moderator”, with ‘no fake audience reactions. No biased questions. Neutral camera positions. No sound bite length responses. Just their respective policies explained to us”.
This is where people disagree with the idea, as Rogan will clearly not be unbiased due to his support of Trump.
The idea does, however, have a lot of support. In August last year, a petition for a presidential debate on the podcast received over 258,000 signatures.
