He is not even running for the presidential election this year, and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has managed to become the third-most backed candidate since a speech he released via Instagram earlier this week.
Former WWE star and actor, Dwayne Johnson became an addition to the election market after sharing a powerful speech on instagram in support for the Black Lives Matter movement. In this speech he also has a few words for the current US President, Donald Trump.
According to Oddschecker, Johnson has received about 3.34 percent of all bets which puts him behind Trump, who has 51 percent, and Joe Biden, who has 35 percent.
Even though having a star like ‘The Rock’ in the oval office would be a sight to see, do not get your hopes up. His odds are at +40,000 according to bookmakers. This is only about a 0.2 percent chance that he could win. Of course, Dwayne Johnson is not even running, but these are his chances.
Continuously, Dwayne Johnson has had to dismiss rumors in the past concerning the possibility of a presidential run. His speech that he shared has only added to the requests for him to run. At first, the idea of a celebrity running for president may be outrageous, but if you remember, the current president was not always into politics.
Protests have been going on across the US and around the world following the death of George Floyd on May 25. The heartbreaking footage shows the 46-year-old Black man repeatedly stating to his arresting officers that he could not breathe while former officer Derek Chauvin’s knee is in his neck.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson urges people to fight for equality. This is what he had to say:
“‘And you have my word that I’m going to do everything in my power, until my dying day, my last breath, to do everything I can to create the change that is needed, to normalize equality because Black Lives Matter.’
Of course, all lives matter, but in this moment right now, this defining, pivotal, explosive moment where our country is down on its knees, we must say the words: Black Lives Matter.”
