Finally!

Android is making history as the first platform to launch ginger emojis. That’s right, redheads are finally getting their time in the spotlight.

For decades, gingers have been the brunt of societal jokes: they have to paint on sunscreen, they don’t have souls, etc. What’s more, smartphones do not even represent redheads as emojis. Until now. The latest Android emoji update (soon coming to iOS) will finally include gingers!

The update will be accommodating to other hair types too including curly, white-colored, and bald. The standard brunette and blonde-haired options are simply not cutting it anymore.

Along with the launch of the ginger emojis, over 100 other new icons will also be released. Emoji users can enjoy options like superheroes, dog bones, peacocks, saltshakers, and lotion bottles. Take a look at the video below to see all the newest features:

Which one do you think you’ll be using the most? We personally think the badger emoji will be coming in handy. Or how about the DNA ladder? Jokes aside, these are some pretty neat new emojis. Android and Apple are smart to cater to and include a myriad of people.

While the new emojis are available now to Android beta testers, it will take some time before the icons are available on all operating systems. Until then, we’ll just have to wait before we can use that sponge emoji.
