It seems like a broken record but this year has been rough. The uncertainty, the struggles, and all of the loss that COVID-19 has caused. Times are bleak, confusing, and scary. But, time and time again, during tough times, we see just how generous some people can be and help others when they (or we all) need it. This story is just another example.
Brendan Ring, the owner of a jazz club and restaurant in Cleveland Nighttown, shared the generosity of one customer who left a $3,000 tip on his bill for one beer. The club and restaurant has been struggling, like many businesses, to stay open during the pandemic. All the customer said was to share the tip with all of the wait staff. How great is that!
What A Generous Man!
Brendan Ring’s Reaction To This Unexpected Surprise
Ring shared this story on Facebook and writes about his complete surprise and joy by this customer.
“As he walked out I looked down at the tip and realized he left a whopping $3,000 tip on a single beer purchase. I ran after him and he said no mistake, we will see you when you reopen! Unbelievable but symbolic of the kind of quality folks we have known at Nighttown all these years,’ Ring said. I could post his name but I won’t as I think he wouldn’t want that, but all my waitstaff and myself are humbly grateful for this incredibly kind and grand gesture. In the last two weeks, this COVID has gotten very, very close to all of us and I’ve had four customers, really close customers, get it.”

It is truly heartwarming and amazing to read stories like this where human kindness shines through at the right times, especially when it is unexpected. Choosing kindness and helping those who are struggling, especially this year, is always nice to hear about and hopefully it will inspire more people to do more good deeds like this. Stay safe everyone and remember kindness is always in season!
