The battle between President Trump and CNN continues following a heated discussion at a press conference.
CNN is formally suing the President of the United States, citing breach of first and fifth amendment rights. CNN’s Jim Acosta refused to stop asking questions and hand over the microphone. The White House retaliated by revoking his press “hard pass”. This is not the first time CNN and Trump have had words, specifically with Acosta representing the network.
Last week, Jim began by asking Mr Trump about his wording of a group of migrants moving North through Mexico as an “invasion”. The conversation quickly grew heated and Trump tried to move on from talking to the CNN representative. However, the President did keep returning to Acosta, telling him that CNN should be ashamed to hire him.
As a result of Acosta continuing to speak while the next reporter began to ask his questions, his pass to future conferences was taken away. Furthermore, he refused to hand the microphone to a female aid and has been accused of “placing his hands on a woman, just trying to do her job.”
Don’t believe the lies coming from the WH. Believe in our freedoms. Thank you all for your support. We won’t back down. 🇺🇸 #1A

Should privileges be reinstated to Acosta?
CNN has over 50 reporters with hard passes. Therefore, another reporter who does not clash with the president so much should be available to take Acosta’s place. However, CNN is not backing down and have formally filed to sue the President.
CNN Stated: “We have asked this court for an immediate restraining order requiring the pass be returned to Jim, and will seek permanent relief as part of this process,”
“While the suit is specific to CNN and Acosta, this could have happened to anyone. If left unchallenged, the actions of the White House would create a dangerous chilling effect for any journalist who covers our elected officials.”
