Most of the time, stories involving being in the water are about people getting attacked or almost attacked by sharks. This will always be the case since sharks swim in the same waters, in the same patterns every year. Another large mammal of the sea does the exact same thing: whales. Usually, whales don’t attack people by biting or dragging them under to eat them. For one man though, he found out that whales can attack, even if it’s in a less severe way.
Michael Packard of Cape Cod was out in the waters doing his job, being a lobster diver getting the traps full of lobsters. While swimming back to the boat, a whale swallowed him and he was in the whale’s mouth until he was finally freed! He’s lucky to have gotten away with just being bruised and a little banged up. Maybe he knew how to speak whale like Dory.
Packard’s Incredible Account
How wild is that? Going through all of that he was pretty calm and collected. Even though a few days had passed when this interview was recorded, I would have thought he’d still be kind of shaken up. When he realized that he was inside the mouth of the whale and said he thought he was going to die and thought of his family, it was clear that those thoughts were always going to be the toughest to forget. Can’t blame him though, that’s probably what most people would be thinking about after something like that too. He’s so lucky to have gotten out and survived! He’ll probably be a little hesitant to get back in the water again.
