The 67th annual Grammy Awards kicked off on Sunday, February 3, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where artists like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, Kendrick Lamar, Charli xcx, and Chappell Roan, among many others, battled it out at the music industry’s most illustrious night of the year.
While we all anxiously await the stunning performances and tear-jerking speeches every year, the real fun begins on the red carpet. Here is where all your favorite celebs show off their glamorous looks and individualistic styles.
The Grammys are well-known as the event for our favorite music makers. A chance for them to get inventive with their fashion choices and take some risks. However, not all these looks land the mark. Let’s take a look at some of the ensembles that left their mark on Grammys fashion history—in the best and worst ways.
1. Chappell Roan- BEST
Starting off strong with a look that was totally “Hot To Go,” Chappell Roan owned the carpet in her vintage Jean Paul Gaultier ballgown from his spring 2003 collection.
The Best New Artist winner wore a fitted yellow bodice flaring down into a full skirt with layers of yellow and seafoam blue tulle. The dress itself was printed with ballerinas inspired by the works of Impressionist artist Edward Degas and his famous ballerina muses. Fun fact: fellow nominee, Beyoncé, also previously wore this dress for Elle! Magazine for their April 2003 issue!
The gown paired nicely with matching sheer, teal opera gloves—complete with golden, claw-like nail decals at the tips—and an eccentric feather headpiece. The color doesn’t stop there, though. Chappell wore John Fluevog black suede lace-up boots with yellow-capped toes and seafoam trim.
The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer accompanied the look with her signature drag-inspired makeup featuring a white base, thin brows, dramatic midnight blue eyeshadow, and a layer of blush you could see from a mile away. And any Chappell Roan look wouldn’t be complete without her fiery red curls.
It’s safe to say that Chappell had one of the standout outfits of the night, but who’s really surprised at this point? If we can rely on Chappell Roan for one thing, it’s her uniquely iconic fashion moments.
2. Billie Eilish- WORST
Please don’t come for me, Billie stans! Although this outfit felt very much like a Billie Eilish look, as she does tend to play around with oversized fits featuring menswear pieces, this honestly felt a little boring for the “Birds of a Feather” singer.
Eilish, nominated for seven awards at this year’s Grammys, wore a full Prada ensemble. The top half was comprised of a simple white button down and a black collared jacket with a deep lace-up neckline. Further down, Eilish sported black wide-leg trousers with a silver chain dangling from the left pocket and square-toed, glossy dress shoes. Billie accessorized the look with black ovular sunglasses and a quirky black sailor cap.
Billie looks gorgeous in everything she wears, but this look was just not it. The hat was the only unique aspect of the outfit, and that in itself felt more odd than inventive. Better luck next year, Billie (in more ways than one).
3. Sabrina Carpenter- BEST
Sabrina Carpenter’s icy blue gown continued to build on her old Hollywood glamour aesthetic she’s been sporting during her Short n’ Sweet era.
The Best Pop Vocal Album winner donned a backless, silk JW Anderson dress with matching feather lining around the waist and at the dramatically flared hemline. The diamond-lined halter neckline circled around and cascaded down her back for a touch of added sparkle.
Sabrina styled the ensemble with a glamorous French twist and her signature face-framing blonde bangs. Her complimentary glam makeup look, showcased a bold lip, bronzed skin, and rosy cheeks.
Besides the fact she looks absolutely stunning, the “Espresso” singer’s commitment to this bombshell-esque styling and signature powder blue color, which she carried into her charmingly funny live performance, is something to admire.
4. Kacey Musgraves- WORST
Kacey Musgraves secured four Grammy nominations, winning Best Country Song for “The Architect” from her sixth studio album, Deeper Well. Unfortunately, her success was confined to her music tonight and not her fashion choices.
The country artist wore a look from Ralph Lauren’s spring 2025 collection, which included a casual scoop-neck white tank top paired with a sparkling gold-sequined skirt with hanging tassels. Cinched with a chunky silver belt and sporting her signature long, loose waves, Kacey Musgrave’s outfit attempted a Western-style glamour that simply didn’t hit the mark.
While the individual pieces weren’t bad, the overall look ended up feeling disjointed and underwhelming. It failed to bridge the gap between the two very different vibes the top and skirt were giving off.
5. Charli xcx- BEST
Nominated for a whopping eight awards, the “Von dutch” singer delivered to us the definition of a “brat” red carpet moment.
Sporting Jean Paul Gaultier, Charli wore an ashy gray, ruffled dress made with 250 meters of chiffon. The shawl-like, ruffled shoulders led down to a tightly corseted bodice, flaring out into a large chiffon train while leaving her legs bare to show off her black knee-high, gladiator-like boots.
Coupled with her long black wavy locks, this look is giving an edgy Victorian vibe that is both glamorous and an embodiment of the individualistic, effortlessly cool spirit of Brat.
6. Jaden Smith- WORST
Speaking of individualistic fashion choices, Jaden Smith definitely turned some heads on the red carpet. Not his own, of course, being that it was stuffed inside a castle. Yeah, you heard me correctly.
Jaden accompanied his sister, Willow Smith, on the red carpet. The siblings were in attendance to support their father, Will Smith, who made an appearance as a presenter at the ceremony. However, this sweet family affair was overshadowed by the literally towering fashion distraction.
Wearing a black Louis Vuitton tuxedo, the singer’s look includes some interesting details, including a white heart on his lapel and strangely ill-fitting shoulders. The real showstopper was the black castle accessory perched atop his head.
Created by the brand ABODI, the looming headpiece draws on the designer’s Transylvania heritage. In this case, its gothic architecture.
Jaden Smith is known for his eccentricity when it comes to his fashion choices, but this was just bizarre. Although I applaud him for continuing to take fashion risks, maybe this look should have stayed in the drafts.
7. Doechii- BEST
Doechii, winner for Best Rap Album, took to the red carpet dressed head to toe in Thom Browne. In fact, Browne designed all of her looks for the star-studded event.
The self-proclaimed “Swamp Princess” donned an updated take on the preppy style. Wearing a fossil gray pin-striped, off-the-shoulder dress, Doechii experimented with unique silhouettes. Her gown, befit with sculpted protruding hips created an exaggerated hourglass effect that flattered the “Nissan Altima” singer.
Not stopping there, Doechii wore a long-sleeved, collared button-up with Browne’s signature red, white, and blue armbands underneath the form-fitting gown. Accessories included a matching striped tie, glittering diamond earrings, and corseting details extending down the back of the dress.
This fun, feminine take on typical men’s suiting elements was playful and unique, cementing Doechii’s status on the best-dressed list.
8. Shaboozey- WORST
First-time Grammy nominee, Shaboozey, attempted something unique for his first Grammys red carpet. However, the look hit a flat note despite his efforts.
Created by Italian design company, Diesel, Shaboozey wore a metal gray houndstooth suit jacket coupled with black trousers and square-toed dress shoes. His matching gray floor-length tassel scarf added some unique texture and shaping. The “Tipsy” singer’s diamond-studded accessories added that extra bit of glitz.
Although it’s appreciated when a man goes beyond wearing a simple black tuxedo, Shaboozey’s outfit was somehow both weird and still boring. The pieces didn’t feel as if they went together, and the scarf was a big no.
9. Lady Gaga- BEST
Last but not least on the best-dressed list is Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga. In attendance for her nomination for Best Pop Duo Performance for “Die With A Smile” with Bruno Mars, Gaga dressed in gothic witchy glamour to take home the prize.
The “Disease” singer wore a Samuel Lewis all black Victorian gown. The bottom of the dress included a large ruched skirt that extended into a voluminous train, while the top consisted of a long-sleeved leather bodice with corset-like detailing and a high neckline. The ensemble was made even more dramatic by the inclusion of exaggerated, pointily structured shoulders.
Her hair and makeup perfectly complimented this strangely gorgeous look. Gaga wore hair in inky black pin straight locks with micro-bangs and donned blonde, barely visible eyebrows.
The accessories for this outfit were the real attention-grabbers, though. The 14-time Grammy winner sported her large oval-cut diamond engagement ring and a 1930s Tiffany & Co. archived gold necklace. This vintage piece contained pearls, black onyx, and a green tourmaline center.
This look is one audiences have come to expect from Gaga: a showstopping red carpet moment that showcases the singer’s unique sense of style and propensity for the eccentric. If this aesthetic is any indication of what we’re in for with her upcoming album, Mayhem, releasing next month, consider me tuned in.
10. Taylor Swift- WORST
Fellow Swifties, before you crucify me for dissing the queen, please know that I am a loyal Taylor stan. However, I have to be honest that this look was not one of my favorites.
The Chairman of The Tortured Poets Department wore a Kansas City Chiefs red, one-shouldered Vivienne Westwood minidress that showed off her long, lean legs. Swift paired the look with matching red accessories—including red pumps, rings, and chunky earrings—as well as her signature red lip.
Swift, a 14-time Grammy winning artist, also donned a beaded chain with a “T” on her thigh. The only question is, is it “T” for Travis or is Queen Tay hinting at the next re-recorded album? Did someone say Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version)?
Despite Taylor obviously looking drop-dead gorgeous in the ensemble, the dress itself is unoriginal and too short for the Grammys red carpet. Compared to the gorgeous look she wore to the 2024 Grammys—inspired by The Tortured Poets Department, which she announced on the Grammys stage that night—this red carpet moment did not leave me feeling “Down Bad” for the look.
And that’s a wrap on the 2025 Grammys red carpet fashion! From jaw-dropping couture to questionable fashion risks, the night proved once again that the Grammys remain the ultimate stage for boundary-pushing styles from the world’s favorite musicians. Whether your favorite artist landed on the best- or worst-dressed list, one thing’s for sure: music’s biggest night certainly gives us something to talk about.
