What is one of the worst things about flying? Well that’s easy, all those damn extra fees.
Airlines love to charge for everything. From headphones to baggage, your cheap flight could become a lot more expensive by the time the trip is over. RyanAir is one of the budget airlines that gets you around Europe for super cheap. So maybe they’re always late, it’s another charge for extra baggage, or you have be to curled up in your seat for the whole flight, you’ll make it to your destination for much cheaper than most other airlines.
But, there was this one time that they may have overstepped. RyanAir said they would only allow small bags on the flight. If you want to bring your regular bag into the cabin, you have to pay an extra $10 (£ 8). I mean $10 isn’t that much, but when you’re paying $10 per flight, it adds up quick! Travelers were not happy about this new rule, and tried anything they could to get around it. A loophole if you will. Well, this guy may have actually succeeded in beating the system. It appears not many people have gotten away with their hacks, except Lee Cimino.
He recorded his experience and you can watch the whole thing here:
Lee had a jacket specially sewed so he could stuff all of his belongings in it and not even need a bag. I am a little curious about how he made it through security though. I would think they would have told him he had too much stuff in his jacket. But maybe there really isn’t a rule about how many things you can carry in your jacket? Just as long as you don’t have any of the items that you aren’t allowed to travel with. I guess underwear, shoes, and pants are ok to stuff in your jacket. Let this be a PSA to all other travelers, you can probably get away with using your jacket as your carry on! So take your jacket to your nearest tailors today. (Just kidding, maybe don’t do this. Or just don’t hold me responsible if it doesn’t work out. Because to be honest I don’t think it will.)
