Yes, you read correctly, there is a hotel room in the Swiss Mountains with no walls.
The hotel allows guests to stay in a room with 360-views of the Swiss Alps. The suite is a collaboration from conceptual artists and a hospitality professional. It has been inspired by Null Stern, meaning ‘Zero Stars’, which is an art installation in an underground bunker.
Founded by Daniel Charbonnier, Zero Real Estate collaborated with artists, Frank and Patrik Riklin to create this new idea of hospitality.
Frank and Patrik Rilkin created the bunker installation in 2009 which inspired Charbonnier to help create a new experience for guests.
Charbonnier had this to say to Insider:
“For me, the concept spoke to me as a hotel professional. All across the segmentation of hotels, from camping to two stars to palaces, I felt the value system for guests shifted from being tangible aspects to experiences and intangible aspects.”

At £20 per night, guests can stay in one of the 14 beds that are available. What Daniel Charbonnier did not expect, was that people were willing and ready to spend more.
Despite his background in hospitality, he had never seen a situation where guests were offering to pay more than what was asked.
He had this to say:
“I used to give guests gold and crystal and marble and still it was difficult to get money from them.
If I can make people happy in a nuclear bunker it really demonstrated for me that what matters is the experience.”

The three ultimately decided to close the bunk, but still keep the experience at its core in future developments. Later, in 2016, they opened the open-concept hotel in the Swiss Alps, standing at 6,463 above sea level.
At about £251 per night, gets can stay in one of seven beds available around Switzerland. On the first day of sales, two rooms were booked for all of 2020 and there are currently 9,000 people on the waiting list.
The ‘rooms’ are managed by a ‘modern butler’ who is trained to carry food across the terrain and make beds in high winds.
Founder, Daniel Charbonnier added:
It’s the simplicity of the experience with the exclusive service.
“At the end of the day, the concept puts the guests at the center.”
