SatelliteInternet.com is looking for a “Weekend Warrior” to go without technology for 2 days. Oh, and they’re going to pay you $1,000 to do it, too.

It’s a bit trite to bring it up at this point, but Zoom fatigue kind of sucks. As does staying at home all day. And being glued to screens until your eyes are dry it’s much fun, either. Maybe you, like folks around the world, are yearning for an escape into the wilds? Maybe you’re pining for a weekend off from technology, too? Well, have I got news for you!

SatelliteInternet.com is holding a contest in which one lucky winner will be paid $1,000 to take a camping trip to a US National Park of their choosing. Here’s the catch, though: you need to take a ‘digital detox’ for the first two days of the trip. According to the organization, the winner will use, “no technology allowed beyond what you need to reach your destination safely.” That means missing countless Instagram moments over the weekend and you may miss the latest news updates about the pandemic. But, ultimately, is that too high of a price to pay for a getaway weekend, free of the shackles of our hyper-connected world? I, personally, don’t think so.

The contest is officially called the “SatelliteInternet.com’s RV Digital Detox Challenge Dream Job,” and calls for a “weekend warrior” hungering for an excursion into the great outdoor. Applicants must be 25 years or older and be legally able to drive through any state that would be between them and their destination.

The winner will then be paid $400 upfront with the remaining $600 upon their return. The cost of an RV rental, food, and a mobile hotspot will also be reimbursed up to $1,000. Finally, the winner will be asked to connect to the internet after the two days to share their experiences online, assumedly with the appropriate hashtags to justify the marketing effort.
