On Saturday this luxury apartment in the city of Belfast was destroyed overnight by a large group of teens.
For two years William, the owner, has had his gorgeous loft available on bookings.com as a vacation rental. Unfortunately, after a party gone wrong, the gorgeous apartment will not be seeing guests any time soon. He now faces a £40,000 fine in repairing such atrocious damages, as well as a loss of 42 reservations.
What Happened?
A sixteen year old had her mother reserve the luxury apartment for her, and in giving her such freedom, she decided to throw a snapchat party. The party invited anyone, including people who brought gifts of sledge hammers.
It’s estimated that at least forty people attended this sickening event. In just one night, the apartment was destroyed, leaving the owner in immense devastation. The sixteen-year old has been arrested, however it does not fix the once-beautiful apartment.
The Damages
As you can tell from the images, not much of the apartment survived the party. Each room is now in need of serious repairs and the destroyed or missing furniture must be replaced. William explains the extent of the damage:
“There is now a hole in the wall between the kitchen and hall because they used sledgehammers to break through.”
“The windows have been smashed, doors broke, the kitchen and bathrooms are wrecked, everything is ruined.”
“The extent of the destruction is unbelievable, it makes me sick to the bottom of my stomach.”
Currently, William will be the one to cover this massive bill. After reporting to Bookings.com, all they could offer was the waive of the tiny commission fee of £9.80.
The Why
It’s truly disturbing to know that anybody could have the desire to perform such a cruel and unsightly act. Is it teenage rebellion gone too far? Or a disgusting need to be noticed? Whatever the cause, it’s truly a shame and I hope she one day learns her lesson.
It’s amazing how much damage a group of teenagers can do in one night. See what damage one angry worker with a digger can cause.
