Rapper Snoop Dogg has partnered with Australian wine producer 19 Crimes to unveil a red wine set to hit shelves this summer. The wine, Snoop Cali Red, is a blend of 65 percent Petite Syrah, 30 percent Zinfandel, and five percent Merlot, says Food & Wine. It is the producer’s first California wine and will sell for $12 per bottle.
The Napa-based wine brand 19 Crimes gets its name from a list of 19 crimes that would have sentenced British convicts to live in Australia, rather than die, in the 18th century. On April 15, the Napa-based wine brand, under parent company Australia’s Treasury Wine Estates (TWE), announced a multi-year partnership with the celebrity.
TWE marketing vice president John Wardley said:
Snoop Dogg, an entertainment and California icon, is the perfect partner for 19 Crimes Snoop Cali Red. Snoop embodies the spirit of 19 Crimes—rule breaking, culture creating and overcoming adversity. We are truly excited to partner with Snoop and welcome him to the 19 Crimes family.
Snoop Dogg stated:
“I’ve been a fan of this wine and I’m excited to unveil my ‘Snoop Cali Red’ this summer and share the experience with all my fans. It’s one of the most successful brands in the market, so I’m more than eager to bring this collaboration to the world!”
A release date has not been officially announced, but expect the wine to be available during summer.
Earlier this month, Snoop Dogg announced another partnership with plant-based company Beyond Meat. This partnership provided more than one million burgers to frontline workers and food bank users due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In an Instagram post, he wrote, “Beyond Meat has made a pledge to donate over 1 million Beyond Burgers to those in need during these challenging times and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
