McDonald’s New Non-Chicken Chicken Nuggets

Well what’s in them then!?

Image via Twitter

A few weeks ago the Greggs vegan sausage roll was all over the news. Well, now it looks like McDonald’s wants a piece of the action. Introducing… the McVegan nugget!

So the crucial question: if there’s no chicken, then what’s in these chicken nuggets? The answer: mashed potatoes, chickpeas, carrots, corn and onions. They’re supposed to taste just like real chicken, but tbh they sound more like hash browns with some added bits.

They’re currently being trialled in Norway, but they aren’t the first time McDonald’s has dabbled with vegan products. They’ve currently got a soy-based McVegan burger in Finland and a McFalafel in Sweden. I guess there must be a lot of vegans in Scandinavia!

Earlier this year McDonald’s brought out a vegan-friendly happy meal too, but got a grilling on social media after several people got chicken wraps instead of veggie ones.

These vegan products are supposed to be a healthier option, but I don’t think anyone is convinced! It’s cool to see more options for vegetarians, but no one goes to McDonald’s thinking the ‘food’ they are being served is remotely healthy.

Personally, I’m a massive meat fan, so even though I don’t go to McDonald’s very often, I’m certain that I will not be trying these new potato-chickpea nuggets any time soon!

But having mentioned those McFalafels, check out the
vegan who got an unwanted mouthful of duck in what she THOUGHT was a falafel wrap…
