They say that air travel is the safest mode of transportation. Sometimes it just takes so damn long! In the United States it takes a 6 1/2 hour flight to get across the country from New York to Washington state. Don’t even talk to me about flying to other countries like Japan. There has been great leaps in trying to restore commercial supersonic flights. In the United States there are some key points:
- New aviation laws in the United States will pave the way for the return of commercial supersonic flight.
- A ban on supersonic travel over U.S. soil, in place since the Richard Nixon administration, is to be removed.
- The last commercial supersonic flight was on 24 October, 2003 when Concorde took off from JFK.
- Denver-based startup says its planes will fly at twice the speed of sound, making the trip from New York to London in only 3.5 hours.
