A ‘Community’ virtual table read is scheduled to air on the Sony Pictures Television Community YouTube page, on Monday, May 18 at 2 p.m. PDT.
With this exciting news, it has now been confirmed that cast member Donald Glover, along with main castmates Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Ken Jeong, and Jim Rash will appear in this one-off special virtual reunion.
The main cast members except for Chevy Chase who played Pierce Hawthorne in the show will take part in a virtual table read of season 5’s episode titled “Cooperative Polygraphy”. The episode takes place after Pierce’s funeral, where an estate executor reads his will for the study group.
A synopsis of the episode reads “Tensions arise when polygraph tests following Pierce’s funeral expose the study group’s true feelings for him and each other”.
After filming the virtual table read (airing on May 18th) the cast members went on to hang out over a zoom call and the video of the reunion was shared on Ken Joeng and Joel McHale’s The Darkest Timeline podcast.
The cast members were joking with each other and reminiscing on how fun working together was. “What we made was so hilarious and I’m just so happy we got to do it again,” Pudi said.
As the conversation and the jokes continued, at one point Donald Glover, who played Troy Barnes back in the days, found out there was a Community group chat which he wasn’t a part of.
“There’s a group chat? I’m not in this group chat”, Glover exclaimed, as everyone started laughing.
Community, the beloved comedy show, was first aired in 2009 and broadcasted its last episode in 2015, leaving fans to anticipate a reunion.
