Nothing stings worse than getting paid less than what you’re owed for a job. Sometimes, a stingy check leads to heated email exchanges, lawsuits, or hunting down the cheapskates who shortchanged you to share a few choice words. Or in the case of this fellow, anger over an invoice leads to…ramming a digger through a hotel?
In Liverpool, a group of contractors was recently doing construction work on a Travelodge hotel. Allegedly, a disagreement started after the workers claimed they were due £600 in unpaid wages. One man became so enraged that he climbed into an on-site digger, drove up to the hotel lobby entrance, and rammed the truck straight through the wall.
Though the video below is only about a minute long, the man’s rampage lasted for half an hour. Talk about a temper tantrum!
An eye witness on the scene had the following to say about the destruction:
“The handover was today. Everything completed, we’d put the last tile in, cleaned up, and made sure everything was perfect.
Then some idiot in a mini digger decided to drive through the middle of the building.
There were loads of workers outside all gobsmacked, jaws to the floor wondering what’s going on.
The site manager was running around like a headless chicken, he wasn’t happy at all.”
What a nightmare. Understandably, the worker is upset about not getting paid his rightful share for completing manual labor. But driving a digger through a hotel? Not quite the reaction you want to see. The entire ordeal was caught on camera, and there were several witnesses. Not to mention, the damages look far greater than £600.
With a fine and possible jail time on this man’s record, he won’t be seeing that £600 he’s owed for a very long time.
