The Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcano erupted for the second time in two days causing a massive tsunami that you can see from space.
The Hunga Tonga Volcano is an underwater volcano that hasn’t erupted since AD 1100. On the 14th of January, the volcano erupted in a powerful explosion which has triggered everything from Tsunamis, a sonic boom, and thousands of lightning bolts.
In this new stunning video, satellite images from space show the eruption happening, and it’s so powerful you can see it from space.
Ash and water debris covered an area hundreds of kilometers an hour. The volcano itself is 1.8 kilometers tall and 20 kilometers wide, with only 100 meters of the volcano showing above water. However, now the volcano has exploded, the top of the volcano has been completely obliterated. You can no longer camp there, unlike this volcano in Guatemala.
There is evidence to suggest that the volcano roughly erupts every 1000 years. There are predictions that the volcano will erupt even more over the coming days.
