With all the stress that we have collectively faced recently, the 4th of July was a time to relax and celebrate. The Associated Press revealed that Will Smith thoughtfully paid out of his own pocket for a city’s fireworks show. New Orleans apparently did not have anything planned for the holiday – so Smith stepped up! He gave around $100,000 for the city and its people to have a beautiful show.

The Mayor of New Orleans, LaToya Cantrell, wrote this on Twitter about the event:

A fireworks display produced by ‘Go 4th on the River’ will take place in New Orleans along the Mississippi riverfront at 9pm, Sunday, July 4, 2021.

The gift of city fireworks was made possible by actor and producer Will Smith, along with his company Westbrook.

What a sweet gesture! People were pleased that Smith provided the city with a festive fireworks show. It also seems fitting since he starred in the smash-hit 1996 movie Independence Day, which raked in $817.4 million in the box office!

Will Smith is also known for his beloved TV role as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (aka Will Smith), along with other characters in films like: Seven Pounds, Focus, Concussion, The Pursuit of Happyness, Hancock, Hitch, Collateral Beauty, I Am Legend, I, Robot, Ali, The Legend of Bagger Vance, Bad Boys, Wild Wild West, Men in Black, Gemini Man, and many more!
