25 year-old Euphoria star Zendaya has issued a warning to fans planning on watching the highly-anticipated Euphoria Season 2. The actress warned that the episodes will show darker content than the first season, and to avoid watching if any of the topics will be triggering.

Euphoria captivated the masses upon its debut in 2019 on HBO Max. The show was written by Sam Levinson and follows a group of high schoolers, exploring the complexities of each character’s lives, with each having a designated episode.

The show instantly became a hit with more than 1 million watchers on its first night and gaining an average of 5.6 million viewers by the season’s finale.

The show also further elevated Zendaya’s success, leading her to win an Emmy for her role as the main character, Rue.

While the show focuses on a different character each episode, it is primarily centered around Zendaya’s character, Rue.

Rue is a troubled teenager who previously overdosed to the horror of her family and friends. Season 1 of Euphoria depicts Rue’s struggles with substance abuse, mental health, and her blossoming romance with supporting character Jules Vaughn, played by Hunter Schafer.

The season ended with many unexplained storylines, immediately alluding to a Season 2. The filming of Season 2 was temporarily delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic but on the 10th January 2022 finally made its debut.

However, Zendaya has warned that the new episodes are even more harrowing than those in the first season. The show is known for dealing with sensitive topics but in the latest season, delves into some of these in even more detail and brutal honesty.

Zendaya issued the warning just two hours before the new season was set to be released.

She wrote: “I know I’ve said this before, but I do want to reiterate to everyone that Euphoria is for mature audiences. This season, maybe even more so than the last, is deeply emotional and deals with subject matters that can be triggering and difficult to watc. Please only watch it if you feel comfortable. Take care of yourself and know that either way you are still loved and I can still feel your support. All my love, Daya.”

Euphoria will see the return of the original main characters Rue, Jules, Maddy, Kat, Nate and Cassie. The new season will also introduce several new characters including Dominic Fike as Rue’s new love interest Elliot.

The season will also feature Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane and Minka Kelly, with little revealed about their characters prior to the release.

Euphoria’s official Twitter page also posted urging watchers to prioritize their mental health and exercise caution before watching the show.

They tweeted a message detailing a crisis line for any viewers who struggle with the subject matters shown in the show, urging them to text ‘Euphoria’ to the number if they or anyone they love requires help.
