Get your sleuthing skills ready, True Detective is coming back to the small screen. We can expect season 3 in 2019.

A newly released trailer shows the hard-hitting elements of the continuation of the series. With elements of racial tension, memory-loss and a mismatched duo being partnered together, the next step in the story is looking to be an interesting one. Although season 2 has been critiqued as beautifully shot, but ultimately not very good, this trailer is promising.

Mahershala Ali stars as both his characters younger and older selves. We will say that the makeup for being transformed into an elderly man looks incredible. However, apparently, three different timelines will be alternating within this upcoming season. We’ll have to wait and see for it all to make cohesive sense as the series progresses.

The trailer looks gritty and interesting. The storyline revolves around two children going missing, which we hope will culminate into a happy ending. Although, it turns out this is Ali’s characters’ last case, as he states in the trailer. Therefore, something is bound to go wrong.

True Detective Season 3 will air from January 13th, 2019. Read more about the upcoming season here
