It’s not hard to see why.

People screaming for A24’s latest film at this year’s Sundance Festival

From the producers of ‘The witch and the split,’ the latest offering from A24’s company is a film called Hereditary. A film that got everyone excited and discussed at the Sundance festival this month. It’s no surprise when the film has been referred to as being like ‘The Exorcist’ but more savage. The trailer shows that it’s not a film for the faint-hearted, but certainly, a must-see for any horror movie fans out there.

The film stars Toni Collette, who plays a character who attends her mother’s funeral. Afterward, the family gets targeted by strange and disturbing occurrences in their local neighborhood.

The director entices the viewers with harrowing visions that you can’t seem to take your eyes away from. We see the characters on fire, covered by insects, and even getting attacked by an invisible being.

The film also delves into surrealism. This may be why it has stood out at the Sundance Festival. The director shows a doll’s house that the mother is making, and shoots some scenes as if it’s the actual house they are living in. It also is used to demonstrate some of the scenes to tell the story of the characters.

The film won’t be heading to cinemas in the UK until later in the year. It will hopefully reach us around the time of Halloween which will be the perfect time to allow Hereditary into our lives.
