The first Matrix movie was released in March 1999 and its been 16 years now since Revolutions. That’s why many people will probably be surprised to hear that there is talk of a fourth installment in the franchise.
To be honest the Matrix never really grabbed me (controversial I know!) and I was first introduced to Keanu Reeves properly as John Wick. The green filter and dull concrete sets never really got me. And even though the action and cgi were exceptional at the time, in a post-Raid: Redemption world, it just doesn’t grab me.
It will certainly be interesting to see what comes of it, though. Hollywood is unreliable when it comes to talk such as this, but with returns to other franchises such as Star Wars and a new Shaft movie out this year, it looks like movie directors and producers are looking to reinvigorate many of the old franchises we thought were well and truly gone.
I’ll tell you what I’m curious about, though, and that’s when they’re going to get Keanu Reeves in the MCU. His co-stars Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Ann Moss, and Hugo Weaving have all had roles in Marvel productions, and with so many heroes given their send-offs in Endgame last month, there’s plenty of room now for one seriously excellent superhero!
And if you’re a massive fan of Keanu Reeves, you’ll be happy to hear it looks like A Bill & Ted Threequel Is Also In The Works.
